Some basic concepts such as community and people in a community need to be reinforced. They need to understand the difference between a stranger and a trusted adult. At this point, the relationship between a real community and a virtual community should be connected. It should be emphasized that students should always use an adult while going online and differentiate what it means to feel safe versus unsafe. Students will be introduced to terms such as netiquette. As citizens in cyberspace, we need to be poilte and courteous to others just as we would face to face.

A community has rules to help keep its citizens safe. A good citizen is one who knows and follows the rules of a community.

Call an adult if you need help
Good citizens are also called responsible citizens.
